Who can take these classes? Do I have to be an artist, or done this before? How big are your classes?
Classes are intended for anyone ages 16 and older, no experience needed unless otherwise noted! Whether you're just looking for a fun afternoon, want to try something new, or have a passion for craft, all are welcome! Classes are currently capped at four students. Private classes for younger teenagers are possible as a private booking (see below).

Where is the classroom?
We are located at 509 Main Street, Ste. 3, Damariscotta, Maine, right below Neighborhood Clay (where you can take ceramics classes!) Our entrance is on the back of the building, facing Route 1 and the Damariscotta River, so please come down the hill and enter from that side. There is plenty of parking in both the front and back parking lots. Once inside, it's the second door on your right, across from the bathroom.

When are you open?

We are only open to the public during class or special events. If you would like to visit, please email us in advance to schedule an appointment.

Do I need to sign up in advance, or do you accept walk-ins?
​
You must sign up and pay in advance to take a class. Walk-ins are not accepted.

What should I bring?
​​
Access to all materials and tools is provided for you to use in class, including safety glasses and hearing protection, unless otherwise noted. Please wear closed-toed shoes to protect your feet, and glasses if you need them. You may want to wear clothing you don't mind getting dirty, and bring a notebook for sketching or taking notes. Please do not bring your own metal to class without consulting us first.

Is copper and brass jewelry safe to wear?

For most people, yes, though extended wear may discolor your skin. It will also darken over time, though it's simple to clean if it bothers you! Though it is unusual, some people have skin allergies to these metals, and you are responsible for knowing if these metals will be a problem for you before signing up for a class.

Do you offer refunds?
​​​
If you cancel up to one week before the first day of class, you will be offered credit towards another class. If Midden Metalworks cancels class, you will be refunded.

Do you offer private classes for groups or individuals?
​
We are happy to consider private bookings for you or your group, or for a class topic you are especially interested in! Send us an email with what you have in mind!
